【廣韻】薄交切【集韻】蒲交切，𠀤音庖。【玉篇】獸也。【山海經】鉤吾之山有獸焉，羊身人面，目在腋下，虎齒人爪，音如嬰兒，名曰狍鴞。是食人。【郭註】曰：爲物貪惏，食人未盡，還害其身。像在夏鼎。左傳所謂饕餮是也。狍，音咆。【東觀餘論】以飾器之掖腹，象其本形。示爲食戒。
